Okay here is another tip. Let the spoon sit and dry a day or two. Strop your tools again and take light finish cuts. Burnish with a smooth stone or wood. Sand paper leaves small scratches where tool cuts don't. Small scraper also work well.

Gray squirrel close up are gray tan and off white on the belly. Black phase are different. Off white under the gray with tan at belly line ears and muzzle area. Hope this helps.

Looks like an antique. I would leave it as is. The back ground could be lamp black, coffee,paint or tar and lacquer. Check with a furniture restoration specialist....

I think the apple, plum and yew would work well. Nice looking axe. A single bevel would serve you well for getting down to that single growth ring for a self bow.

Raw linseed oil and walnut oil are both good food safe oil that harden to a good matte finish.

Looking good. I've never tried an adze blade on a y stick. I've been watching videos on them lately. I'd like to give it a try.
