Re: Vintage German Carving Set
Ha! They were a beautiful set of old tools! Thanks for "lubricating" the bidding with your 12 drooling looks!
I actually sold them for more than I paid for them 4 years ago, so tell your wife that carving tools are a good investment! :...

Re: Vintage German Carving Set
They sold! Thank you all for your support in it!
They brought $603.00 which was $103 higher than the original Buy It Now price. Still a great buy for a wonderful old set of tools! There were 26 bids and 989 times someone took a look at the tools!...

Re: Vintage German Carving Set
Just curious, are any of you Folks bidding on these tools? It'd sure be nice if one of you got them! Then I know they'd get to be used again, and it'd feel like they went to a friend. There have been 13 bids so far.

Rick,
There's still time! Our 360 vine 3 to 4 year old vineyard should have their first fair crop this year and first full crop in '10. We also put in 200 blackberry and raspberry plants. You may think we're crazy for that, since you're...

Hi Christina and Kenny,
It's good to be back! I told myself, when I hadn't carved in months, that I wouldn't post again until started carving again. Bad idea, but I thought it would somehow motivate, maybe kick me in the seat of the pants. I did...

Re: sharpening
Something that helped me was a black magic marker. You're trying to replicate the original edge/plane/surface if it hasn't been in the hands of an over-zealous sharpener who screwed up the angles. So, if you cover the surface that you're polishing/sharpening with black,...

Vintage German Carving Set
Hi Everyone,
I haven't posted for quite a while. I've missed this Forum! Life just got too busy including a move from Florida to Tennessee and I wasn't getting a chance to carve or lots of other things, so stayed away awhile.
I bought a 29 piece carving set that was made in Germany in...

Re: Eagle Relief
Ron,
I have chickens and that's no chicken! Definately an eagle, and very nicely done at that! Keep up the good work!

Re: angry
If you deal with enough people in life, eventually you'll get cheated or burned. It doesn't matter whether you buy or sell on ebay, at yard sales, flea markets, shopping centers or malls. Human nature is a "me first" thing; everybody suffers from human nature and...

Re: grapes
The first time I carved grapes, I went to the store and bought some plastic fruit grapes. I don't like artificial fruit, but it was great for a carving pattern! I had the leaves and the grapes to work with. The leaves seemed harder than the grapes to carve, I thought, maybe...
