Re: Jack Price Characters Size?
Take a look at Gene Messner's video on carving compact characters. It adapts Jack Price's patterns to a more manageable size.

3D Carving Patterns
Does anyone know of a Windows compatible computer program that can take a flat scanned pattern and turn it into a 3D model that can be rotated on the computer screen?

Flesh tone paint
I am trying to come up with a good mix (acrylic) to simulate flesh tone on my carving. Don't much like the commercial premix brands. What ratios of what colors should I use to try to get my own "flesh tone mix"? TIA.

Re: water/alcohol prep
Often when I am carving older basswood, I use a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and spray it on. Depending on the dryness of the wood I find that I may have to really "wet" the wood. Sure makes the carving easier. Dries quickly as well. Good Luck.

Re: Just lost my best friend
My sympathies. We had a poodle who lived until 17.5 years. I know what you are going through. We had to have our "Christie" put down due to her severe problems. It's like you have had your arm cut off.
Your pet's memories will help you.

Cottonwood Bark Carvng
Is it possible to use the same method for making basswood easier to carve on bark carving: using a spray of 50/50 water and rubbing alcohol and spraying it on the wood to carve? I want to try to stop the cottonwood bark from chipping because it is so day.
Any help is appreciated and TIA.
