    WhiteCree Is Down

Whitecree is down. No joke, Whitecree is no more.

What happened? You ask. The short version is, Whitecree had a heart condition for the last bunch of years. He went to Vancouver for an angiogram/angioplasty, where they stick a catheter in your femoral artery in your leg, and run a hollow...

    Re: Help - bad wood

That kind of looks like an old bark inclusion from where the tree twisted a bit and grew around itself.

You could try Bondo - y'know, the autobody stuff - but be careful working with it as it is toxic as all heck. It will also become harder than the wood...

    Re: Blood pressure - sheesh!

Well, I suppose if the choice is between another 20 years being slightly stupid and less creative versus only another 10 years running at full, I guess 20 years has something to reccommend itself. Gotta hang around long enough for the grandson to graduate...

The media loves disasters, bad boys (& bad girls!) and all things negative.

Kids crave order, attention and healthy discipline.

My point? I dunno, I'm just cruising the boards on a boring Saturday morning.

    Re: Carving in public

I don't much care for somebody leaning over me and kibbitzing while I'm working on something. Too distracting, and we all know what happens when we get distracted while holding a sharp knife - bandaid-time!

    Re: opinion/question

Looks pretty good so far, and yes - noses can be tricky!

I'd go a bit deeper all around the outside, then adjust the rest of the carving to fit. One of the biggest errors a new carver makes is in not going deep enough.

    I won't say too much...

The short answer is - everything!

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but carving in all its aspects fascinates me.

    Blood pressure - sheesh!

A couple of years ago, the doc tells me my blood pressure is sky-high and he was really surprised I hadn't fallen over by then because of it. So he sticks me on these little teensy pills that reduced it to something approaching 'normal' - whatever the heck that is.

    Now, don't get...

    Re: WCI #39 Summer 2007

Finally showed up on the news stand 2 days ago (22 May), had to scrounge a couple bucks before I could buy it. I hate it when payday is still a week away...

    Anyway.

Took me a whole hour to read it, cover to cover (I'm a very fast reader)...

I hear you about the confusing array of options. I'm in the same spot, just on the verge of buying a full-blown Foredom. Thanks to Squbrigg, I know which handpieces I'll be picking up right away, but I really like the idea of all that power of the...

Well, to see a picture of my first carving, what you do is burn an alder log about 20" long by 8" thick. See what the ashes look like?

As to a picture of my last carving - which one, exactly? I usually have anywhere from 3 to a dozen...
