Gramoca, like you, I have had my share of hard basswood, my last one was the worst and I used the 50/50 mix also. I am just going to recommend a different direction for you, it’s harder to hold detail, but I would ask you to try cottonwood bark. It is much easier on your fingers while carving and...

Did you look for identification on the chuck itself? Many times chucks will be identified by maybe a letter and a number. If so, you can look up the key by the chuck number. Earl

I did notice your beard was different, in layers, but also, can’t remember you putting words on the hat before, the marine motto which means always faithful or always loyal. Maybe you just wanted me to save the picture of this carving, ok—-done. Big grin—-Earl
