Back carving again - Snowy Owl
Hello everyone,
It's been a while since I've been on here but I'm trying to back to carving as much as I used to. I finished this Snowy Owl a couple of weeks ago. It's been on the go since last summer, but I'm hoping to have more carving time now so the next one shouldn't take so long....You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Re: Barn Owl
Paul,
That is coming along really well.
Are you using a pattern? If so, where is it from? I've been looking for different owl patterns. My Saw Whet turned so well that I'd like to do some other kinds.

Saw Whet Owl
I finally finished the Saw Whet Owl I was working on. I entered it in the Canadian Woodcarving Championships last week and it took a first in the novice birds of prey.
I also entered my Robin. After reading comments from Kenny and Hugh in my gallery I thought that maybe it had a chance....

Re: A yearly cane
I've got my segment done for the Christmas cane. I'll try and post a photo if it works.
I will get to work on the segment for the outdoor cane and send them both off asap.

Re: Mountain man carving
Paul,
Beautiful carving! The realism in the man and the horse is right on.

Like I said, I haven't...

Re: Making birds feet
Looks good Hugh.
The next feet (and legs)I have to do is for a Great Blue Heron. Not looking forward to that.
I bought some hollow copper tubing for the legs. I guess the 2 part epoxy would be the best thing to cover it.

Re: New Stuff & Slowing Down
Hey Teri,
You just take it easy and take care of yourself first. The carving will still be there when you're feeling better.

Re: Carving a Red Tail Hawk
That's looking great Hugh. Is that full size? It's hard to tell from the photograph.

Re: Bird Carvings
Grear site. Those birds are beautiful.
I'm always looking for new websites that display carvers' work.
Thanks for posting it.
Chris.

Re: First Caricature
Thanks for the kind words everyone.
Ron, I didn't use a pattern on him, I just started carving and this was the result. I was really just playing around with some different techniques and he just sort of took shape.
Jim and Bob, you...
